About This Issue

In Introduction to Journalism, we have been learning how to write articles that could be found in any professional newspaper, from the Fulton Sun to the New York Times. From profiles to listicles to press releases, we have learned how to write the news in a way that is ready for publication.

During the class, we talked about techniques to organize information in an article. We learned about writing leads to catch the reader’s attention in different ways and how to use quotes to make the articles more effective.

One of our requirements for the class was to have at least one article published in The Columns, so many of us have already been published. However, as a final project for the class, we have put together a final issue for The Columns all on our own. We wrote all the stories, edited them, planned social media posts and laid out all the articles on the website for publishing.
