Westminster’s football team defeated Crown College (Minnesota) 35-7 on Saturday to improve to 3-2 on the season.
The Blue Jays started off strong, scoring on their first drive of game. Trent White, ‘18, found Matt Quarles, ‘19, for a 28-yard touchdown reception. Latif Adams, ‘18, rushed 22 times for 97 yards and three touchdowns.
Taking advantage of scoring opportunities was crucial for the Blue Jays throughout the game.
“Our defense put us on the field most of the day with eight forced turnovers, and we were able to capitalize and put it in the end zone,” White said.
On defense, Westminster forced eight turnovers – four interceptions and four fumbles. Jackson Ringhausen, ‘19, and Clayton Bristol, ‘20, led the team in tackles with seven apiece.
“Everybody on the defensive side did their job,” Jake Money, ‘19, said. “We had some young guys step up and fill roles as well, which really helped bring everything together and good things happened.”
The Blue Jays will host Eureka College for Homecoming on Oct. 8 at 1 p.m.
