The Westminster men’s soccer team won both games they played at the Volgas Memorial Tournament in Memphis, Tennessee, over the weekend, defeating Hendrix College 4-1 and Rhodes College 4-2. Meanwhile, the women dropped both of their games, losing 2-0 to Miliken University and 2-0 to Rose-Hulman.

On the men’s side, seven different Blue Jays scored over the weekend, including David Immanuel and Drake Trease, who each have a team-high three goals this season. With the two victories, the Blue Jay men have improved their season record to 3-1.

“Maintaining possession throughout the weekend allowed us to control the tempo and play our style of game,” Tanner Touslee, ‘18, said. “Coming out in an attacking frame of mind and scoring early in the game contributed to our success as well.”

For the women, the two losses dropped their season record to 1-3. Despite the results, Tabitha Tiefenthaler, ‘18, has a positive outlook.

“Communication is extremely important during the game,” she said. “It is something that we always strive to improve on and are constantly getting better at.”

Both teams will be back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at Central Iowa.
