Westminster to Host “The Voices of Callaway”
BY COURTNEY GALLAGHER
“The Voices of Callaway,” a singing competition and fundraising event by the Heart of Missouri CASA, will be held in Champ Auditorium on April 23.
“’The Voices of Callaway’ is an event that the Fulton office of the Heart of Missouri CASA organization has put together in order to raise money and awareness about who Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) are and the need for more advocates in the Fulton Community,” said Katie Koonce, ’16, an intern at the Heart of Missouri CASA who helped organize and plan the event.
CASA, an organization that supports abused and neglected children in the court system, has been Kappa Alpha Theta’s national philanthropy for 25 years, and the members of Westminster’s Epsilon Iota chapter are volunteering to help run the event.
“I am looking forward to the night of the event because Heart of Missouri CASA has put in a lot of time and effort into making the event fun for the community and beneficial for their organization,” said Koonce. “I am excited to see all of our hard work pay off.”
Individuals and groups performing include members of the Fulton community, Fulton High School students and teachers, and Randall Kleindienst and the KC Country Band. The event will be hosted and emceed by KAT Country radio’s Erin Hart and Dave Patrick.
The event begins at 6 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m.) and is open to the community, as well as Westminster students, faculty, and staff. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. More information on ticket sales can be found here http://www.heartofmissouricasa.org/special-events.aspx.
As well as admittance to the event, tickets also provide a specified number of “votes” to the ticket holder. These allow attendees to vote for their favorite musical group or singer. Donations of $1 will also serve as votes, and can be made online until April 22, even by those who are not attending. The link to vote and donate is http://www.firstgiving.com/heartofmissouriCASA.
The singer or group that raises the most money will be the winner of “The Voices of Callaway” competition.
