Westminster Hosts Poverty Simulation
BY AUSTIN MORRIS
Last week, Central Missouri Community, along with support from campus organizations, ran a poverty simulation in the Hunter Activity Center. Participants took the roles of impoverished families and were given a few resources, necessary tasks, and a monthly plan. Staff took the roles of services meant to help these families. Police, pawn shop, employer, and bank were a few of the places the participants in the simulation would have to visit. Depending on how well they managed, some families survived the month, some rose out of poverty, and some fell victim to crimes.
